ABOUT CAMP PURPLE
Dealing with inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) as a child is incredibly challenging. It can mean missed school days, hospital stays, and, all too often, feeling isolated from peers. Camp Purple offers something rare and powerful — a place where children and teenagers with IBD can connect with others who truly understand their experiences, and where no one feels “different” because of their condition.
At camp, tamariki get to enjoy the fundamentals of childhood: playing outdoors, building independence, strengthening self‑esteem, challenging themselves physically, and feeling proud of what they achieve.
Our compassionate and fun volunteers are at the heart of this experience. They help create an environment where campers can simply be kids — not “IBD patients” — and enjoy everything camp has to offer.
Above all, Camp Purple gives young people the comfort of knowing they are not alone.
"It is heartwarming to see the children interacting with their peers who understand what it is like to be on lifelong medication and live with this disease that no one wants to talk about."
Our goal is to ensure every camper’s experience is filled with positivity, optimism, and shared triumphs — a week where they can just be themselves and enjoy life to the fullest.
We are thrilled to be returning to Camp Adair in Auckland for our upcoming camp. With only 80 camper spots available, we encourage families to register early to secure a place.
We can’t wait to create unforgettable memories with you. See you there!
